Types of humidifiers and how they work
There are three main types of humidifiers: ultrasonic humidifiers, steam humidifiers, and evaporative humidifiers. Each type has its own unique working principle and pros and cons, so let's take a closer look at them below.
1. Ultrasonic humidifier
The ultrasonic humidifier uses ultrasonic high-frequency oscillation to atomize water into ultrafine particles of 1-5 microns, and diffuses the water mist into the air through the pneumatic device, so as to achieve the humidification effect. Ultrasonic humidifier has the advantages of high humidification efficiency, fast humidification speed and low power consumption, but it has high requirements for water quality, if the water quality is not good, it is easy to produce white powder, which affects indoor air quality, and can also lead to respiratory diseases. Purified water or distilled water is recommended!
2. Steam humidifier
Steam humidifiers, also known as electric humidifiers, work by heating water to 100 degrees in a heating body to produce steam and using a fan to send the steam out. Steam humidifiers humidify large amounts and humidify evenly. However, it consumes a lot of electricity, and needs to clean the heating body and filter regularly, and replace the filter regularly, otherwise it is easy to produce bacteria and mold. Although microorganisms in water can be killed by high temperature, there are still certain requirements for water quality, try to use pure water or filtered water.
3. Evaporative humidifier
Evaporative humidifiers are divided into two types: cold evaporative humidifiers and hot evaporative humidifiers.
(1)The cold evaporation humidifier blows the filter through the fan, so that the water evaporates naturally at room temperature and achieves the humidification effect. This humidifier has a gentle humidification effect but is slower, requiring regular maintenance and filter replacement, increasing the cost of use.
(2)Thermal evaporative humidifiers heat water to boil, produce steam, and then send the steam out through a fan. high temperature can effectively sterilize and inhibit bacteria; The humidification is rapid, stable, the humidification amount is large, and the efficiency is high; The water mist is delicate, no white powder, will not wet the tabletop, wall, floor, and has no requirements for water quality, and can be used directly with tap water. Relatively cold evaporative humidifiers consume a little more electricity, and the heating body and filter need to be cleaned regularly.
